Blog Entries stage 4 (Post 2)

In my last blog, I said that this week we are filming our opening scene. The process for filming is still going on. We are filming in 3 different areas in our school. We are filming in The hallway, a bathroom, and our school library. These locations are mandatory to film in cause we chose these locations. The maximum time to film and edit is 2 minutes, that is the extreme time frame for the opening scene, so we would have to shoot and edit the shots to a 2 minute maximum.

Blog Post stage 4 (Post 1)

This week we are focusing on our production film.  The locations will be that parts of our school, The hallway, bathroom, and near a classroom. the type of camera we would use would be a film camera, but if it doesn't come, we would use a phone to film the production. The phone will have to provide the lighting, the camera angles and shots, and obviously the film production. For the editing we are going to use a website called "we video". I did consult tutorials and videos to use the camera work, to make it look like a real movie camera, to give off that camera effect. Our Group's film, is being produced this week following the schedule to start filming. As I said before in my other blogs, we have actors that go to our school, and we would have to come up with a way for them to film with us during our class time.

production / filming schedule

The film schedule for our film is the entire decision on when we have to start shooting. As you know we are in school and we don’t have a lot of time to film. The filming schedule has to be reasonably good for the people we casted can start to come in. Also, for the people we are casting, we are shooting during class so we would need for the people we casted to have a pass to film with us. The production is going to be great but our schedule has to be fair for us to make the production great and not mess it up.

decisions on sound, sound effects, lighting, etc. to be used in production

We don’t have any decisions on sound yet, but I have been considering a type of actual song to fit these scenes. The opening scene can be with a well known song that can fit this opening scene we have with our characters. The sound affects have to be high because we would be shooting a lot of king shots, and we need background noises to give the affect that a lot of people are behind the characters or near the characters. It actually has to be good because, these scenes have high expectations.

casting considerations and choices

The casting considerations I have considered but haven’t discussed with my group yet is, I plan on casting kids from this school and not my family members it’s going to be simple and no trouble and problems. My other group members probably might want to cast a family member but I wouldn’t like that idea because it’s about school, it’s actually at school. I’m considering casting a couple of friends of mine that go to my school. We still need too audition, and we still need to decide the people good enough to fit these roles.

location and scouting process and decisions

This week, my group and I decided to do our location at school, since it’s actually in school and our whole film deals with school. Our scouting process is still going to look for people to cast, and we still need to decide if we are going to shoot somewhere else. The shooting schedule deals with everything at school. So the location is finalized, the scouting process is still happening, we still have decisions to make about the casting and everything else.

Storyboard

Image
This week we are doing a storyboard for our project, What is a storyboard? A storyboard is a shot by shot graphic representation of how a film will unfold. This Storyboard is can be digital or drawn on paper, my group chose for us to do it on paper, your supposed to use your script as well and draw and imagine what the characters will do or say, and how they act. This is the beginning of my groups story board. It's a shot by shot graphic picture of how the characters are going to look, what they are going to say and how they are going to act. Why is a storyboard important? It is important because, it's apart of the pre-production and it shows how the movie is going to flow.

Project Script

Image
This week my group and I wrote our first script for our project. This script pertains to the film opening we are filming for our end of the year test.  The film is the maximum of 2 minutes only. Everything that's in the scripts, the characters, the opening title, and the dialogue. These are important things for our film. What are scripts? scripts are written for films, they are directions for the actors to follow and do well. If you don't have scripts, there are going to be a lot of mistakes when the actors are acting in there roles. Think of them as specific directions the actors must follow to make the movie look good.

Case Study

Image
I did a case study on the movie Mean girls.  The  movie is based on a girl who lived in Africa, and moved back to America to experience a real High School.  The movie was made in 2004, an is know as an American Teenage Movie.  The movie shows the social classes of High school, for example, The jocks, the nerds, The Asian's, The rich Asian's, The Fat girls, The skinny girls, The wannabe's, and the Plastics. These are the social standards in the movie.  It introduced New movie actors back then, like Amanda Seyfried. The movie grossed over $130 million dollars around the world. It introduces pop culture. The plot is about a sixteen year old girl who is introduced to a real high school and experiences it differently.
